Toni TNR Tails, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the number of stray/feral cats in the community through the use of humane Trapping, Neutering/spaying, vaccinating and Returning (TNR) them to their outdoor home which ends the breeding cycle, improves the cat's health and makes them better neighbors by ending mating behaviors.

What We Do

What We Do

TRAPPING Our organization specializes in patience and utilizes the best trapping equipment and current trapping techniques to humanely trap even the most elusive momma cat, weary tom cat and multiple kittens at once.
BOARDING The night before and after surgery, kitties receive a temperature controlled, quiet, calm atmosphere with plenty of food & comfort.  We ensure that every kitty receives the care & attention they deserve & need to recover.
VACCINATING Our team of volunteers ensure that every cat receives the necessary rabies, other needed vaccines and basic care for all that the outdoor life brings them from parasite treatment, tooth extraction to minor wound care.
TRANSPORTING We provide transportation if needed from/to locations of trapping, boarding, veterinarian & return trapping location. Transporting is provided with the kitty's comfort a priority.
SPAYING/NEUTERING We help find low cost/no cost spay/neuter, vaccination and wellness checks by a veterinarian specializing in shelter medicine which requires knowledge of surgery, emergency care, behavioral health, epidemiology and infectious disease.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION We provide community education to raise awareness about the importance of responsible pet ownership & the benefits of spaying & neutering pets & and especially strays/ferals.

57 Cat Spay/Neuter Sponsored Event

Toni TNR Tails, Inc. sponsored & organized a TNR event  August 22, 2023 where we trapped, spayed/neutered & vaccinated 57 unowned cats from our community.  We provided the cats 5 star overnight accommodations before and after surgery and partnered with Baytown Animal Services who provided their surgical facility and veterinarian support staff.  15 volunteers dedicated their time and talents to support the event.

Advocated for the Passing of a Community Cat Program with Baytown City Council & its Animal Control Advisory Committee

We actively advocated for the City of Baytown to adopt a Community Cat Program in support of the volunteers' efforts to spay/neuter our city's unowned cats by speaking at city council meetings, work sessions and the council appointed Animal Control Advisory Committee. The ordinance passed in October 2023.

In March 2024, Toni was appointed by city council to the Animal Control Advisory Committee that provides input regarding the animal control and adoption center plans, strategies and education, as well as the animal control ordinances for a 2-year term as the animal welfare organization expert.

In April 2024, we also advocated for the City of Baytown to pass an ordinance to accept a $20,000 grant from Best Friends Animal Society to spay/neuter the first 300 stray/feral cats to kick off the program.

Surgeries began 8/21/2024 and 300 should be completed by December.

Spay/Neuter Surgery Volunteer

Volunteering for spay/neuter surgery allows us to stay current on the care needed after surgery as well as understanding the full scope of TNR to enhance processes and procedures.

Who We Are

Toni TNR Tails, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Baytown, Texas consisting of volunteers dedicated to reducing the number of stray/feral cats in the community through the use of humane Trapping, Neutering/spaying, vaccinating and Returning (TNR) them to their outdoor home which improves their health and well-being.  ("Returned" is used loosely.  Although we do not rescue, foster or re-home, we have found homes for highly adoptable cats and kittens who we simply could not return to the outside life from which we found them).

Because of our warm weather and long days, "kitten season" is nearly year-round and the need to TNR is at its greatest.  During 2020 and 2021, many veterinarian offices were closed.  This reduced the number of pets, strays and ferals spayed/neutered resulting in 2023 being one of the worst years for unwanted litters.  Raised veterinarian rates upon reopening exasperated the issue.

This led to the decision to form the 501(c)(3) organization and tackle the overpopulation in our community with all tools available.  Prior to our formation in April 2023, we serviced (trapped, transported and/or boarded for surgery) 147 kitties in the previous 16 months.  In the first 6 months of formation, we serviced an additional 160.

Our work for the community is ongoing and requires many hours of patience and sheer determination to trap every cat in a area, even the most elusive, stubborn cats.  But, it is all worth it because we know the better life that's ahead of them and the relief it gives our community.

We rely on donations and grants to keep us going and greatly appreciate your support that goes towards fuel, cat food, boarding, traps, nets, pee pads, disinfectants, spay, neuter, vaccinations and more!  The cats and the community thank you too!
